The two massive jawbones from a ninety foot long blue whale was erected by local building contractor, W. Foster & Sons as a gateway entrance to Whalebones, a house in Whalebones park, Barnet.

Erected in the late 1930’s, the bones were shipped from a captured blue whale in Norway as a replacement for a set of jaw bones which had previously formed a gateway to the house since the 1860s.
